Earthquake Data at Your Earth Structure
In this activity you are to examine earthquake data around your earth structure.
USE GOOGLE EARTH and examine all earthquakes in your earth location during 2011
Load KMZ
Earth Locations.kmz
Load KMZ
2011_Earthquakes_ALL.kmz
Make sure these are the only 2 that are ticked .
Fly to your earth structure and examine the pattern you see in the earthquakes nearby.
Click EDIT and answer the following questions about earthquakes near your earth structure while looking at the GOOGLE MAP.
What pattern or TREND do you see in the earthquake data ?
Are they happening on one side of the earth structure?
Are the earthquakes in a straight line?
Are the earthquakes scattered?
Are there lots of them or are there very few?
How deep are the earthquakes? Do they get deeper as you get close to the edge of the plate ?

Take a screen shot to show the pattern of earthquakes near your Earth Structure. SAVE in your Assignment folder on your H drive .
If you have time you could also load all the earthquakes from 2009 and 2010

Untick the box for 2011 so that you only view 2010 or 2009 data.
Is there much difference in the pattern for previous years for your earth structure ?
